A some what recent report on For Honor's player count reported that the game had lost roughly 95% of its player base on PC since the game's release in February. While the report revealed that the PC player count dropped as time went on, it also showed a small resurgence after Season Two released bringing new heroes, maps, and gear.
One of Ubisoft's representatives doesn't believe the player numbers that have been the focus of reports and instead insists that the reports are 'fake news'.
“[The patch] is rolling out now, over the course of the day – it takes a few hours to get to everybody,” the Ubisoft rep said during a recent live stream (via WCCF). “We have a lot of players in For Honor – believe it or not, fake news people, we have a lot of players in For Honor – to roll it out to.”
Now, the reports are mainly focusing on how many PC players are currently playing the game in comparison to how many played the game at launch. At no point are other platforms brought into the equation, making it likely that the other platform's player stats would bump the game's overall player count up quite a bit.
Really, it all comes down to wording and specifications.
