Ubisoft unveils its Battle Royale champion Hyper Scape

Ubisoft has unveiled and launched their answer to the popular battle royale craze that is still going strong in the gaming scene with Hyper Scape. In matches of up to 100 players, you’ll be able to fight for a literal crown in this new online free-to-play first-person shooter for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Check out the trailers here!

The battle royale scene has long grown out of its niche and has become a field where the biggest and best developers are duking it out to vie over gamers. Activision has Call of Duty Warzone, Epic has Fortnite, Electronic Arts has Apex Legends, and starting today Ubisoft, the remaining mega-publisher now also has their own horse in this race with Hyper Scape.

It can become dull by seeing all these similar games but Ubisoft is trying to differentiate their game with several unique twists. For one, unlike most other battle royales, Hyper Scape is set in a futuristic virtual city that bears some cyberpunk inspirations. From buildings to weapons and gear, there is a distinct clean look at display here.

It’s 2054 and technology is everywhere. It helps people survive the day-to-day grind – from neural networks to cybernetic augmentations to burgeoning AIs – but for the bottom 90%, living is tough. Many work for megacorporations to survive – these are the lucky ones. There is only one way to rise to the top…one way to change your lot in life and achieve something better: win the Crown in an intense Battle Royale in the virtual world of Hyper Scape.

But it’s the gameplay that decides whether an online shooter makes it or not, and in this regard, we’re happy to report that Hyper Scape has a fresh approach. Players can equip two weapons which can be upgraded up to five times by loot, adding even more excitement with each match’s progress.

Besides weapons, players can also get access to two Hacks at a time. These are special abilities that range from temporary walls for protection to morphing into a ball for added mobility. These look like a great way to spice the regular combat up in interesting ways.

Hyper Scape is available right now on PC as a limited time technical test until July 7th. You can try it out for yourselves by registering via the game’s website here.
