Ubisoft’s game subscription Uplay Plus launching today, Get one month for free

Ubisoft has launched its gaming subscription service Uplay Plus today. At the moment only gamers on the PC platform are able to enjoy access to a large collection of great games for a monthly fee. As a generous promotion, everyone who signs up will get a free month of access to the full service between September 3rd-30th.

French gaming juggernaut and creators of legendary game franchises like Assassin’s Creed, Splinter Cell and many more unveiled their ambitious plans to enter the market of gaming subscriptions with Uplay Plus just a couple of months ago during this year’s E3. It didn’t really come as a big surprise as several big game companies already enjoyed great success with their own service.

It was Electronic Arts who spearheaded – what looks like – the next big thing in the gaming space, with their own subscription EA Access on the Xbox One in 2014. After receiving lots of positive user feedback (and subs), Microsoft followed suit the Xbox Game Pass. Both services proved enough of a success to even branch to the PC and PS4.

With Ubisoft’s already large catalog of own games and third-party titles on their PC store Uplay, things looked just like a natural progression. One aspect which seriously hampered the excitement among gamers, however, was the price. At $14.99 a month, Uplay Plus is by far the most expensive gaming sub available at the moment. It’s not a great value proposition especially compared to Microsoft’s Game Pass which goes for $5 less.

Nonetheless, the sheer amount of games, especially Ubisoft’s in-house titles, are sure to be more than enough for gamers to sign up. Just like the competition, Uplay Plus also offers all new Ubisoft titles with all DLC, even with a head start. This means you will be able to enjoy Watch Dogs: Legion, Ghost Recon Breakpoint and the next Assassin’s Creed Day-1 for only a fraction of the regular price. Undoubtedly a great deal.

While there’s no official word about the service coming to consoles right now, we think it’s only a matter of time.
