Uncharted movie gets revived by Stranger Things producer

In 2009, Sony announced their plans for a film adaptation of the PlayStation exclusive game franchise, Uncharted. The film has been passed through several hands and people like Seth Rogen were approached to write the film but ultimately declined. Not only that but even stars have been attached (most have moved on by now). Names like Mark Wahlberg and Nathan Fillion have been thrown around in the discussion but it's unclear if any of them are still remotely interested in starring in the movie.

Earlier this year, we got confirmation that Joe Carnahan (director of the upcoming third Bad Boys movie titled Bad Boys For Life starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence) will be penning a script for the movie meaning it's actively in development.

Now we have a director! Deadline is reporting that Shawn Levy (producer and director of several Stranger Things episodes and director of the Night at the Museum trilogy) will be leading production of the film that has been in development almost as long as The Last Guardian. The movie will also be produced by Spider-Man producer, Avi Arad.

Sony recently pulled the film off their release schedule but promised the film is still coming! Carnahan also recently teased the opening sequence of the film as "really good".

The fourth and final Uncharted game in Nathan Drake's story released earlier this year on PlayStation 4 and is scheduled to have a single-player DLC sometime in the future.

We will continue to keep you updated on any developments on the Uncharted 4 film
