A comparison of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection's latest story trailer to PlayStation 3 gameplay of Uncharted 2 has revealed the the Nathan Drake Collection is more than what it appears to be. The game is no simple remaster, Naughty Dog didn't simply take the graphics and overhaul them, they have enhanced the game with new art, geometry, better audio and video quality — a remaster wouldn't cover the amount of detail Naughty Dog has.
Using original PS3 assets and pitting them against The Nathan Drake Collection's Story trailer, Digital Foundry has revealed quite a bit of details that make the wait for the game even harder:
According to Digital Foundry, all three games included in The Nathan Drake Collection are rendered at full 1080p resolution with post-process anti-aliasing. The game's shadows and textures have been noticeably enhanced, and blurring from the original games has been removed.
The removal of motion blur made the biggest difference by far, on top of that Naughty Dog has added more complexity to scenes by detailing buildings, adding smoke or dust and even detailed far off mountain ranges.
TL;DR: The Nathan Drake Collection is going to be awesome in every way, proceed with the hype.
