Unconfirmed: Bandai Namco’s block of the Dark Souls resolution mod DSfix 2.3 blocks was “not part of the plan”

Dark Souls was not intended to run at anything more than 1024 x 720 on the PC, but as games on the PC go, it was modded to allow you the ability to alter the resolution of the game. This mod is called DSfix, it came to us in 2012 from Durante (a modder).

Recently, Durante took to NeoGaf forums to reveal an email that notified him that Bandai Namco filed a complaint against his Dark Souls resolution mod DSfix 2.3 under the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. This complaint officially blocked off the mod from being used.

The mod creator didn't take the news well (as he shouldn't), he claims that Bandai's move is entirely "bullsh*t" because "DSfix does not include any of their material." In an uncomfirmed post, a NeoGaf user offered a reason for this claim against DSfix 2.3 – the user claims that the FDS File Defense Service, initially had Durante's DSFix mod blocked, but it was "not part of the plan". The FDS was hired by Bandai Namco (US) to remove Dark Souls debug patches from the internet.

The user also claims, that the FDS is speaking with Bandai Namco to reinstate access to the mod.
