Unity announces support for New Nintendo 3DS/XL

Unity has announced that they will be expanding their support from the Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC (just about every platform) to also cover the New Nintendo 3DS/XL. The official announcement came from a keynote speech during Unite 2015 Tokyo, Unity's 9th official conference.

There are over 4 million developers that use Unity for game development, so this announcement holds a lot of potential for the New 3DS. Because the Wii U has had Unity support since launch, there are number of Unity games that were released and developed for the console that never made their way to the 3DS.

This announcement from Unity opens the door for an over-abundance of Wii U to New 3DS ports. Acclaimed indie game Never Alone is just one game that comes to mind that I'd like to see on the 3DS. The only thing that could hold the New 3DS back in terms of new Unity developed games is the hardware itself. What games can the New 3DS support?

During last year's GDC Nintendo confirmed that there were 17 Unity games submitted for the Wii U and another 50 that were waiting to be submitted. Unity developers aren't ignoring the Wii U and definitely won't ignore it's more popular portable cousin, the New 3DS.
