It appears as though the popular thing is to talk about future games, before a game even releases. It's almost like talking about DLC before a game releases, but its bigger than that. The Coalition's studio head, Rod Fergusson has revealed that as long as Gears of War 4 does well, we can expect the series to keep going.
Essentially Gear of War is at the crux of the franchise, the familiar set of main characters have been retired and replaced with a younger set of characters to take us through a new story.
"One of the things that's nice about Microsoft's investment is that we know, unless this does horribly, we're probably going to do another one," explained Ferguson to DigitalSpy.
"That's made it easier to design moving forward. In the past, when we were doing Gears 1, Gears 2 and Gears 3, there was a lot of doubt, we didn't know whether there would be another one, so we just had to get everything in right now. Here, we're able to look at it, recognise a great idea that doesn't quite fit right now, but it'll fit in the next one. It's made it a lot easier."
Recently, The Coalition's studio head, Rod Fergusson revealed that the highly anticipated Gears of War 4 will feature microtransactions upon release. These microtransactions will not affect gameplay and will be available as collectibles, as well as customization items.
