Upcoming MMO Mech Shooter, Antraxx releases demo update ahead of Kickstarter launch

The Kickstarter campaign launches on October 1st

Battle Mech fans haven't had a whole lot to cheer about over the last few years. While they were big in the 90's, only Armored Core V and the free-to-play Hawken have managed to stand out since they both released all the way back in 2012. Enter Antraxx, a pixelated isometric, top-down mech shooter that is also an MMO. The game has been in development for five years and is about to launch its official Kickstarter campaign on October 1st.

The demo update introduces three key features:

  • A mech bay to customize your mech
  • The ability to fight and conquer land
  • A sneak peak at the game's map editor (but it won't let you save your creations)

One of the things that Antraxx is trying to do differently is that they have developed the game beyond the standard combat that you find in every other mech game (not that it isn't important) is that players will be contending with politics and economics to increase their influence on the game world. Here are the game's primary features:

  • Crisp, high-quality pixel art
  • Play in browser or download
  • Massively multiplayer
  • Customize and outfit your giant mech
  • Create your faction or join another
  • Acquire land and build your zone
  • Annihilate your opponents or make peace
  • Player-driven world economy and politics
  • Team-based, free for all and co-op game modes

If you are interested in checking out Antraxx, you can head over to the game's official website and play the demo.
