Even though the Dragon Ball Z series has been over since 1996 in Japan, the franchise is still going strong with games and movies, allowing fans to relive and recreate iconic battles. Last year's Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods was the first movie to actually move the story forward after the series' end, and what a fantastically action-packed and absurd ride it was.
The next movie will be once again advance the storyline with characters returning not only from Battle of the Gods, like Birus, but also from the main series. In Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection of F, the almighty Freeza makes a return thanks to his goons making a wish for his resurrection using the powerful Dragon Balls. Something tells me he's going to come back extremely pissed.
What's more monumental about this release however, is that it will be the first movie released in IMAX 3D in Japan. Not just the first Dragon Ball Z movie mind you, but the first movie, ever. Pretty cool!
The movie doesn't have any sort of release announcement for the US, but seeing as how Battle of the Gods made it over here, it's only a matter of time until Resurrection of F brings back an iconic villain to the States. Here's to hoping we get the 3D IMAX screening here as well.
