Update: A few more details have arrived thanks to a livestream from Bethesda. Mods have a size limit of 2GB, and you will be able to view them from a new "Mods" section in the main menu.
You can go through the mod library via Bethesda.net after linking your account, all of which can now be done right here! When you install a new mod, the game automatically creates a new save. That means if your game bugs out or full on crashes (which actually happened during the livestream) you can still go back to a working save.
The livestream also confirms that if you do install mods, that will freeze out achievements.
Original: Bethesda originally promised that mods would come for Fallout 4 on Xbox One in May of this year, and by God, they’re making it happen! Very last minute, but technically still releasing in May!
For those that don’t know, mods are community created modifications for video games that range from slight tweaks to almost entirely rewriting the game. They’re a staple of PC gaming, and something that has been lorded console players as something they’re just unable to experience.
The floodgates have now opened, hopefully paving the road for other games to have mods on consoles. And don’t worry, PS4 owners! Fallout 4 mods will supposedly be releasing in June for Sony’s console!
