[Update] PS4’s Persona 5 Steelbook and ‘Take Your Heart’ Editions pre-orders canceled on Amazon

At least there's still another way of ordering those versions, defects aside.

As we finally near the release date for Persona 5, an issue has surfaced. Amazon [Update: and Best Buy] has canceled a mass amount of pre-orders for Persona 5.

Reports across a number of forums, Reddit and NeoGaf included, have reported mass cancellations of orders for two version of Persona 5 for the PlayStation 4. According to the reports, the Steelbook Edition and 'Take your Heart' Premium Edition pre-orders are being canceled.

"Hello,

Due to delivery restrictions on your order #redacted, we won’t be able to send you Persona 5 – SteelBook Edition – PlayStation 4.

This is because this item contains regulated materials classified as dangerous goods and can not be delivered by Amazon. Although the amount of these substances in these products is usually quite limited, these products need to be transported in a certain way to ensure that they are handled with care.

Unfortunately, this means that we're not able to ship your order and it has been canceled.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience and hope to see you again soon."

According to an Amazon representative, there's a defect to blame for the cancellations.

"The actual reason why the order was canceled is that the entire inventory Amazon had received from the manufacturer had a major defect that was detected by one of our valued customers, like you. Then an investigation began to check if all the items have the same issue and we had to cancel mass orders and return the item back to the manufacturer"

The 'Take Your Heart' and Steelbook versions only had two things in common, they both included the game and the steelbook. It's unclear which is defective, however, you can still pre-order both versions on Newegg. Its first review in English has scored it a 10/10.

Persona 5 releases in full on April 4th, 2017 for PS4 and PS3.
