[Update]: We've received a tip that June 19th was confirmed to be the start of the sale by a post to Steam. The announcement is said to have been viewable in Steam's Big Picture mode yesterday, June 17th, but has since been pulled.
(Original story follows.)
Are you ready for a miracle? Get your wallets ready because the time we've all been waiting for is almost upon us — the Steam Summer Sale. Though Steam hasn't yet announced it (they typically like to just surprise us with this sort of thing), evidence is mounting that the annual sale could begin tomorrow, June 19.
First came the ad from online payment service PaySafeCard, spotted by the eagle-eyed folks over at NeoGAF. There was also the appearance of some mysterious trading cards on the Steam Marketplace. And lastly, SteamDB's curators have noted on Twitter that this week's Steam sales, which typically run for the entire week, are ending on Thursday, June 19. Need I say more?
For those unfamiliar with the Steam Summer sale, get ready. Probably the biggest time of year for PC gamers, the sale offers huge discounts on a ton of games via daily deals and regular flash sales. Your wallet will hate you.
If these rumors are correct the Steam Summer Sale will run from June 19 through June 30.
