Update: The venue for APEX has changed, the event will be held at 50 Atrium Dr, Somerset New Jersey.
The world of eSports can be dramatic. It is filled with intense focus, rage, sadness and envy. You could say it's more dramatic than Grey's Anatomy (if that's even around – I've never watched it).
Recently, a series of events during Apex 2015 has put the Super Smash Bros. tournament on hold until further notice.
How did we get here?
It wasn't the hotel's parking garage collapsing, although that did occur a couple days before the event. It's actually a series of events all stemming from someone triggering an emergency door. This caused alarms to go off and the hotel to be evacuated. Fire fighters responded to the alarms, resulting in the hotel being inspected by a Fire Marshal.
The Fire Marshal deemed the hotel's event room unsuitable for the amount of people attending Apex. Prior to the booking the event at the hotel, Apex provided an estimate of the amount of people in attendance. The hotel was supposed approve of the amount of people. The problem is, the hotel lied about the event room occupancy limit thus bringing us to this situation.
The staff at the event is doing everything within their power to get the event back on schedule.
