Valkyria Revolution, Spin-off of Valkyria Chronicles Comes to America on June 27

The spin-off of a classic PS3 series makes it to America

Valkyria Chronicles was a tactical RPG on the PlayStation 3 with an interesting development history and an even more interesting in-game history. Unlike traditional tactical RPGs, this was played in the third-person perspective. Characters had lots of personalities and got along with each other differently, much like the Fire Emblem series. The second game was PSP-only, and the third was Japanese exclusive, then the series went dormant.

Cue 2016, when Valkyria Revolution, a spin-off of the series, launched in Japan. It would be the second of the series to not launch in America, until today. Sega has announced that the spin-off title will launch on the American PlayStation 4 and PS Vita platforms on June 27.

As stated before, it's not a sequel to the original, beloved series. It's a spin-off in a different place and time. Instead of a World War 2 influence, it's more of a European industrial revolution inspiration. The turn-based combat has also been replaced with a faster-paced gameplay. According to their blog post, it possesses the same amount of strategy involved with customizable squads, load-outs, and behaviors.

The game will also launch with a special edition for true Valkyria fans, which includes a Vanargand metal pin, the soundtrack, and an outer box with additional art. The game launches with physical and digital copies available, with the Vita copy being digital only.
