It has been reported today that developers can get their hands on the brand new Steam controller by submitting an application to Valve.
Valve is seemingly cherry-picking developers that they want to endorse and test the new product, as they are asking applicants to specify the product that they want to use the controller with. They also want developers to mention the release date of the product, contact information and the size of the development team.
Valve's description of the new controller: "Experience a new level of precise control for your favorite games. The Steam Controller lets you play your entire collection of Steam games on your TV—even the ones designed without controller support in mind.
"The Steam Controller features dual trackpads, HD haptic feedback, dual-stage triggers, back grip buttons, and fully-customizable control schemes. Find your favorite mappings in the Steam Community, or create and share your own."
The controller is set for release on November 10th this year, with pre-orders for the product fetching $49.99. Also on November 10th will be the release of the Steam machine, which has been dubbed very "console-like" by many gamers.
