Valve ditches Steam Controller’s touch screen

Valve has ditched the touch screen on its new Steam Controller, the company announced at its Steam Dev Days event today.

The Steam Controller, Valve's solution for the upcoming Steam Machines that use its Linux-based SteamOS, originally featured a touch screen instead of a traditional button layout. But now Valve has swapped that out and gone with the usual D-pad and a remappable ABXY button configuration.

Several factors may have caused Valve to change its mind about the touch screen, including price and backward compatibility issues.
