Valve’s Steam Game Guides to take on GameFAQs

Watch out GameFAQs! Valve is coming for you. Valve has launched Steam Game Guides — an aid for the Steam Community that adds to the features that Valve's platform offers. With Steam Game Guides, players can help their fellow gamers and create a game guide on Steam.

When you create a guide with Game Guides — which is now live as a beta to members of the Steam Community Beta — you can upload and insert images or use screenshots from your Steam cloud storage, or you can put YouTube videos in it and add friends to help you write the guide. It's yet to be seen how this will affect GameFAQs, which has been the most popular gmaing resource on the internet for over a decade. No one has really come close to challenging GameFAQs yet, but when Valve sets its mind to something…

About its Game Guides, Valve said, "You've probably got some favorite games that you play a lot and know pretty well. Or maybe you've mastered playing as a certain class or character in Team Fortress 2 or Call of Duty. Or maybe you're just really good at finding all the hidden secrets in the latest Elder Scrolls game. How do you put that knowledge to use and help fellow gamers? Create a game guide on Steam!"
