Valve trolls us with new Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 hidden files

The emotional rollercoaster that is Half-Life 3 and Left 4 Dead 3 is back in business. Last time we heard about the constantly rumored, always wanted games Half-Life 3 text files had found its way into DOTA 2 (and a SteamDB update) and Left 4 Dead 3 was being rumored to release this year.

Before we get into Valve's recent trolling, I'll need you to get a hold of your emotions.

Valve, being our unforgiving overlords, have worked two folders into the HTC Vive's Portal VR demo,  'left4dead3' and 'hl3,' according to SteamDB. On top of this, there are lines of code that suggest a potential quest system for Half-Life 3;  'CInfoQuestDialog', 'CPointQuestGoal' and CNPC_QuestCitizen'.

The Left 4 Dead 3 bits lead to textured for a "Retired Engineer" character.

There's also a test map labeled "vr_l4d_characters_skody."

What does this mean? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?!
