Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 delayed once again to 2021

Paradox Interactive and Hardsuit Labs have shared the unfortunate news that Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 had to be delayed. The action-RPG was originally slated to come out this year but has been pushed to an undefined date sometime in 2021 for current and next-gen consoles & PC.

This year is proving to be exceptionally difficult for fans of old-school action-RPG gaming. First, we learn that the long-awaited third System Shock is apparently on the verge of cancellation and now the other high-profile game of the same genre has been delayed. For the second time.

When Paradox first unveiled Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 early last year, they were expecting to release it this spring. Alas, that didn’t happen and it was delayed to late 2020. Today, fans of the iconic franchise have to brace for another delay.

This is not a decision taken lightly nor is it the first option we considered. We will share more information in the coming months on launch timing and other organizational changes that will help us achieve this goal.

There is no mention about a release window beside a broad 2021 mention but in the delay announcement, fans are reassured that more details about Bloodlines’ new release date will be shared in the coming months.

As for the reason for the delay, to the surprise of us, the Coronavirus pandemic is not cited. Instead, the developer wants to take the extra time to polish the game into a state deserving of the IP and its fans. That makes sense since early footage of Bloodlines 2 looked quite janky. Even for a series that has always been loved despite being a bit unpolished, it stood out. We sure hope the extra time will be enough for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 to become a hallmark action-RPG when it launched next year.
