Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York coming later this year

Developer Draw Distance has unveiled their newest project. Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York is the second title in the popular vampire franchise which made headlines this year. There is no concrete release date but the game will come out later this year in Q4 2019 for PC and Nintendo Switch. Check out the first trailer!

How interesting life can be. For years upon years fans of the Vampire: The Masquerade series have been clamoring for a new game where they can live out their deepest vampire role-playing fantasies. This year suddenly, they get not only one but two game announcements in the franchise. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is without a doubt the more anticipated title as it will be the true successor to the cult Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines from 2004.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York aims to translate the complex and fascinating world of vampires, their nightly struggles for power and attempts to hold on to their humanity, to a format previously unexplored by the brand – an atmospheric narrative experience. Think interactive story meets choices-that-matter; dark, atmospheric, emotional narration meets Telltale-like way of creating morally challenging dilemmas, answers to which are entirely up to the players, allowing them to reach one of a variety of possible endings.

Coteries of New York is the second game and aims to deliver a very different vampire experience. The most prominent differing feature of this game is that it will be a pure narrative experience akin to visual novels. While there likely won’t be real-time 3D gameplay, this does not mean Coteries of New York will be a shallow experience. Quite the contrary as replayability plays a big role here. Players will be able to choose a protagonist from a wide selection of unique vampire clans and experience different scenarios. Here’s a quick rundown of the game’s features:

  • Choose your character from one of several distinct Clans
  • Every playable character offers unique powers (Disciplines), different ethical approaches to certain issues, and dialogue lines
  • Character-oriented quests allow you to create your own coterie and shape your relations by reinforcing NPC loyalties
  • Highly replayable – choices made in the game are reflected by the game’s changing fiction
  • Various endings depending on your actions – which conclusion will you reach?
  • Suitable for both Vampire: The Masquerade veterans, and fans of mature narrative-driven games who are newcomers to the setting
