With 'The Mummy' reboot having officially kicked off the new monster-verse (called 'Dark Universe' by Universal), Universal is looking to get their other monster movies off the ground. It looks like Van Helsing will be one of the next films that add to the new monster cinematic universe and Universal already has their eye on a new Van Helsing.
According to THR, Universal is eyeing Channing Tatum to be Van Helsing. Early talks for the film detailed it as a contemporary "modern-day re-imagining" where Helsing is more of an everyday hero, than a superhero.
In 2004, Universal released another version of Van Helsing, starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale. This new film isn't aiming to be a remake of that film, but a re-imaging of the Van Helsing story. There's no release date for the new Van Helsing yet.
