Vega returns in Street Fighter 5

With series newcomer Necalli still in our rear-view mirrors, Capcom today revealed that Spanish ninja Vega will also be playable in Street Fighter 5.

First introduced in Street Fighter 2, Vega will retain his eclectic appearance in his latest incarnation. For SF5, his play style will be expanded through the addition of a no-claw moveset, which ditches his iconic three-pronged accessory.

Players can switch between claw and no-claw mode at will, making use of different grabs and attack properties when needed. The two modes can also be strung together in new combos. However, this feature will only be available while Vega still has his claw; once it’s knocked off, no-claw will take over entirely.

Vega’s V-Skill and V-Trigger were also detailed in his SF5 announcement. The former is a dodge maneuver which can be followed with a counterattack; the latter sees Vega throw a rose at his opponent and, if it hits, follow up with a series of attacks from behind.

Street Fighter 5 will launch exclusively on PS4 in March 2016.
