Last month, with all the drama surrounding the exclusive content in the Collector's Edition of The Taken King, Destiny's upcoming expansion, Bungie promised veteran players "something better." Next week, we may learn what that will be.
As some of you are aware, next Tuesday, July 7th, is Bungie Day — an annual celebration that celebrates Bungie's fanbase dating back to 2007 when the company shared new details on Halo 3. On that day, they also gave away tons of freebies, including a map pack for Halo 2, gamer pics, and an Xbox 360 theme. Bungie will look to continue that tradition next week with Destiny.
"Our inaugural journey around the sun is cause for celebration. Bungie [Community] Day is just the occasion. This tradition was set into motion by players of Bungie games. We made it official on 07/07/07. Since then, the seventh day of the seventh month has been a time to recognize an amazing group of people who assemble in games to become a community.
Pay us a visit again on Tuesday. We’ll have some celebrations of the awesome stuff you’ve done this past year, along with some invitations for how you can express yourselves."
Additionally, Bungie promised to reveal the special rewards for any player "who has braved the first year of Destiny," teasing a way to achieve "permanent legendary status."
"This is something we've been working on for a while, and your own triumphs are the crucial incredient," Bungie said, posting and image of a new "Triumph" emblem that you'll presumably be able to earn during this event.
Also included in the weekly update was the full list of content included in Destiny: The Taken King. While Bungie will wait to go into detailed specifics, they at least gave fans a look at everything they'll get for their $40 purchase.
