Virgin Gaming (not actual virgins) launches Xbox Tournaments app on Xbox LIVE

Today on Xbox LIVE, competitive gaming company Virgin Gaming launched an Xbox Tournaments app. Xbox LIVE Gold members can download the free app, which allows players to browse Virgin Gaming's Xbox LIVE tournaments, enter them, play them and track their progress on leaderboards.

Currently, the first tournament includes four sports titles — EA Sports' Madden NFL 13, FIFA 13and NHL 13, as well as 2K Sports' NBA 2K13. As of now, the app and its tournaments are only available in the U.S., U.K. and Canada. Missing is 2K Sports' MLB 2K13… not surprisingly.

It's kicking off with a tournament dubbed the "Get Paid to Play Challenge," where thousands of gamers can win free cash in daily, weekly and monthly tournaments. Whether you win or lose, every little thing will help you on the leaderboards. It runs from April 9 through May 6.

There's a lot of requests for the popular Xbox shooter Halo 4 to be included in the tournament, but seeing as how it's not a sports title, that probably won't happen — regardless of how many gamers ask for it.

You can register an account at http://xbox.virgingaming.com/ and download the app to get started today.
