Visceral Games has found a way to use Microsoft's Kinect voice-recognition system to encourage players to swear at their TVs.
"We actually have some commands that people will need to figure out," Steve Papoutsis, the executive producer of Dead Space 3, told CVG. "But there are commands where you might be in a certain situation and you might yell a specific expletive and it might behave in a way that you want it to."
Players can also use the voice detection to share ammo and items, for instance. Or you can be less kind and use it to grief "just your friends."
The developer left out gesture controls since it didn't build the game with them in mind.
"When we have approached things like motion control, we've done that from the ground up, such as with Extraction on the other platforms," said Papoutsis. "We were allowed to think of it as an integral part of that experience. So with Dead Space 3, it didn't make sense to put that in."
