Vita Games That Save In-Game Won’t Support Memory Cards

We recently reported that some Vita games would require a memory card for save data. Because you're going to need an external memory card regardless, this didn't seem like that big a deal. Now, however, a new development has surfaced.

In an interview with Kotaku Japan, Sony revealed more information on the Vita's save functionality, translates Andriasang. According to the Vita manufacturer, games that save directly on their game carts won't give players the option to save to a memory card. That's right, you don't have a say in the matter.

The reason for this is apparently due to future DLC for select games. Additionally, games will prompt you when they require a memory card, and you'll need to have it inserted upon playing the game. Man, the Vita sure is a bossy little handhled!

It's weird that Vita games won't give you a choice regarding saves. What if you've got some weird OCD where you just have to save everything on a memory card? Well, I guess those poor folks are screwed.
