Voice actor claims Jar Jar Binks was part of Sith Lord masterplan, again

Something something dark side...

The hype of a Jar Jar Binks fan theory might well have died down on the internet of late, but his voice actor Ahmed Best might well have re-igninted this debate – claiming his character could have evolved into a Sith Lord.

Best was questioned, again, about plans for Jar Jar in a recent interview with Jamie Stangroom on YouTube, and his responses open up potential routes for the Star Wars misfit.

"What I can say about it is – and I kind of said this on Twitter –there's a lot about it that's true," Best hinted. "There are some things that are not true. Could Jar Jar have evolved into that? I think the answer is yes.

Because of the backlash, and rightfully so, Lucasfilm backed off from Jar Jar a lot. But a lot of the influence I put into the character mirrored a lot of what was already in the Star Wars universe."

The voice actor has been pretty prominent in stealing the headlines in and around the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but is yet to confirm whether or not rumoured Sith plans had been pencilled into original scripts for the movies.

"So, was there an official Darth Jar Jar in the works? That’s really a George Lucas question, I cannot answer that question" he added,

Many theorists had flagged a scene featuring both Senetor Palpatine and Jar Jar Binks as a potential signpost towards a future rise as a Sith. It reportedly included Palpatine thanking his 'understudy' for his rise to power, however the scene was later removed.

When pressed on more details of the scene, Best responded: "It was just me and Palpatine walking down the runway, talking about the plans to turn the Empire into what it had turned out to be.

"It was a very dark, very personal, very quiet scene, but for some reason, Palpatine decided to confide in Jar Jar that pretty much he was going to wreak havoc. Wherever that scene is, somewhere, that would really give great credibility to the Darth Jar Jar theory."
