Vulnerable Kraken and more adjustments to come in next week’s Splatoon update

Can't say we didn't warn you this was coming.

Nintendo's support site confirms that an update will be coming to Splatoon on June 30 — only it's not to add stage or weapon DLC. This update will, in fact, make minor modifications to gameplay, similar to those made on certain characters in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. In other words, you may need to rethink your strategy going forward.

The most notable adjustments are increased vulnerability while using the Kraken special (translation: you won't have to run away all the time if on the receiving end), lessened terrain impact on Inkstrike coverage, greater speed reduction when using the Ninja Squid ability, slower Stealth Jumps, and stronger effects of the Ink Resistance Up ability.

If any of these abilities are regular facets of your strategy, you may want to start exploring new gear combinations, like pairing with Stealth Jump with the Quick Super Jump ability. But don't worry, the opposition will help you through the initial sting.
