Walmart offering free, two-day shipping without membership to compete with Amazon Prime

Walmart is giving Amazon Prime a run for its money as the retail giant launches a new online service.

It’s offering free, two-day shipping on more than two million items without a membership fee. Items included in the deal are being called “everyday essentials” including household products, baby needs, pet supplies, cleaning supplies, beauty products, electronics, toys, and non-perishable grocery items.

Walmart was recently trying to keep up with Amazon Prime with its own service called ShippingPass, which was $49 a year and featured three-day shipping, but the new announcement does away with ShippingPass for good, offering refunds to existing members.

There are a few stipulations with the new Walmart deal. Users have to spend at least $35 to take advantage of the free shipping, while shipping to stores for pickup will remain free with no price threshold.
