Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide has sold over 500,000+ units

Over 500,000 units of the game Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide has been sold since it's release on October 23 2015, and that is no small achievement for a game that is only available on one platform, PC.  Swedish developer Fatshark is pleased with the results, especially since the studio in one of the smallest in the gaming world.

For those who don't know: Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide is a Left 4 Dead style game where a group has to fend of evil rats, but instead of using guns like in Left 4 Dead players use medieval style weapons and spells. Basically, it's Left 4 Dead in the Warhammer universe.

Fatshark is a smaller studio located in Sweden where the competition is fair but fierce. Some of their most notable work includes Bionic Commando: Rearmed 2, a 2-D platforming side-scroller, Krater, an RPG reminiscent of Divinity: Original Sin and War of the Roses, a third person medieval multiplayer game.

Each of these games have been successful in their own way, but they have never been on the level that Vermintide is on right now, especially not in such a short amount of time. Vermintide has in music terms earned a "gold record", and that after only being out for about 6 months!

We spoke with Fatshark’s CEP Martin Wahlund today and he had this to say success of Vermintide:

"We had high hopes on the game and we really believed in it since it was something we wanted to play ourselves. But you're always nervous before the game really takes off. And the sales numbers, who are what they are without any bigger sales, are really great for everyone in the team as well as the positive response from both media and players.

It is things like this that make you wanna keep on fighting to make good games. I believe that the whole studio feels the same.

This also opens many possibilities on what we can do with the game in the future"

Fatshark is hard at work with more content for Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, and a console version of the game is also in the works.
