Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will NOT have loot boxes; “Loot comes from gameplay, not your wallet #NoP2W”

Pop the champagne, for we come bearing good news! The developer behind Warhammer: Vermintide 2 have taken a stance in the heated loot box debate, and their upcoming game will NOT be containing a loot box market!

Yes, good news indeed! It was during the official reveal of Warhammer: Vermintide 2 that Fatshark took their stance in this hot debate. To many gamers' dismay, the current trend amongst developers to boost their earnings is to implement a loot box system where players pay to unlock crates with high-level loot, previously this was only a something used in Free-2-Play games but has now reached all the way to full priced triple-A games, even single player games have started using loot boxes. To mention a few games we have comes with a loot box system we got the Call of Duty franchise, Middle-earth Shadow of War where the true ending is allegedly hidden behind loot boxes, and Star Wars Battlefront II, though it should be noted they use it in different ways.

Even if the items in the loot boxes can be earned through grinding or if they only contain cosmetics, players are getting tired of them and the fact that a game they bought does not come with all its content, these boxes have gone from just being somewhere in the background to being intrusive.

This is where Fatshark, the developers of Warhammer: Vermintide, takes a different stance. During their reveal yesterday they said that Vermintide 2 would come packed with a whole lot of new loot, something that used mean things you grab off the floor after killing enemies, but with the times being as they are Fatshark clarified.

It is nice to see that once players buy Vermintide 2 they will get everything that they should, everyone has the same journey to top-tier loot. Though it's a bit sad that developers have to boast that they WON'T add the loot box system. This also isn't the first time Fatshark have said that they don't have any plans on adding microtransactions to their games. To even further increase their good guy points they are also hosting a free week of Warhammer: Endtimes – Vermintide on Steam with the game being on a 75% discount.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 will release for PC early 2018, including all its loot. Pre-ordering nets you a free copy of the upcoming DLC for Vermintide 1, Death on the Reik.

Good on ya, Fatshark! Loot should always come from gameplay, never from wallets.
