Warner Bros. is considering Ben Affleck’s exit from the role of Batman

Warner Bros. has been considering an exit for Ben Affleck from the role of Batman.

When Ben Affleck was initially cast as the Caped Crusader for 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', it goes without saying that the decision was ridiculed and abhorred. After having seen the movie, as well as the anticipation for the new 'Justice League' film on the horizon, fans have more than come around to the actor and have expressed much interest in seeing him appear as Batman as long as possible. Unfortunately, that may not be the case and his run as the Dark Knight may be coming to an end.

Thanks to the turmoil facing the planned Batman solo films, Warner Bros. has been considering Ben Affleck's feelings to drop out of the role entirely. There were initial plans to greenlight the movie with Affleck set to star, write, direct, and produce. These plans turned into a full on trilogy with the same plan, but he decided to step down from the director chair, having Matt Reeves take his place. Along with the decision to pull away from the script written by Affleck and DC Comics scribe, Geoff Johns, it seems his future involvement with the franchise altogether is pretty bleak. According to WB studio chief, Toby Emmerich:

"Ben is our Batman. We love him as Batman. We want to keep him in the cowl as long as we can."

It seems the final decision might ultimately come down to what Affleck himself feels is best. Perhaps some positive feedback from 'Justice League' might sway him to stay on, but time will tell if that's the last time we see the new fan favorite Batman in a future project.
