Warner Bros. and Rocksteady released the final installment of the Batman Arkham series this year with Batman: Arkham Knight. Since then, there have been tons of rumors regarding what DC hero the studio would tackle in their next game (most signs have pointed towards Superman).
Ames Kirshen, the vice president of product development for the Arkham and DC Comics games at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment gave us a little insight on where they would be going from here.
“Batman is one of the cornerstone IPs for Warner Bros.," said Kirshen on the PlayStation Blog. " Being one of the 'cornerstone' games at Warner Bros, you can't see them giving up the franchise anytime soon and it doesn't look like they will be. “We don’t have anything to talk about at this time, but the possibilities are endless with a character as dynamic and beloved as Batman.”
You heard Kirshen, the possibilities are endless. That means that while the Arkham series is done, there might be another series some day (the day they realize it will still sell).
If Warner Bros. were to leave the caped crusader behind, what they would focus on would be directed by what fans want to see.
“When choosing what DC Entertainment IP we might focus on for any game, it boils down to honing in on the IPs that map the strongest, genre-wise, to what fans are interested in seeing and playing. From there, it’s about getting the development studios with the strongest passion for those IPs to make the games.”
