Warren Spector would like Epic Mickey to continue

I don't know what's more mind-boggling, the fact that I just used Red Bull as a credible gaming news source or the fact that Warren Spector wants more Epic Mickey games to be made. Speaking to the popular energy drink company, the developer expressed interest and enthusiasm in keeping the franchise alive.

"I'd love to see the Disney Epic Mickey series continue — there are plenty of stories still to tell about Wasteland and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit and Mickey Mouse!" said Spector. "I'd love to see some Oswald games, where he's on his own. He deserves a shot at solo stardom. Then there are the ‘duck’ games — Donald, Scrooge, etc. — that are just waiting to be made. And a bunch of us at Junction Point have thoughts about Goofy and the Gremlins and a hundred others."

Oh my God, a hundred?! That's not all, though. Spector also explained that given Disney's rich history and lengthy roster of characters, the folks over at Junction Point could very easily make Epic Mickey games for the next 80 years. Seriously. "There are all sorts of forgotten characters, concepts from films that were never made, rides that have been retired from the parks or never built at all,” continued the developer. “We could map games for the next 80 years about Disney's last 80."

While Epic Mickey 2 did receive some positive reviews and was on the receiving end of high scores here on GameZone, I personally could not find much enjoyment in either the console titles or Power of Illusion on the 3DS. I absolutely loved the charm, music, and artistry of Epic Mickey 2, and I was deeply infatuated with the wonderful history that was being used as a basis for the games. When it came time to play these titles, however, I couldn't enjoy them. Not one bit, and I hated that that was the case.

Because I fear that Epic Mickey really can't deliver a solid experience as far as its gameplay is concerned, I personally don't want to see the series continue. Honestly, it sucks realizing and understanding that.
