Was new GTA 5 story DLC just teased by the voice actor of Franklin?

For the second time, Shawn 'Solo' Fonteno, the actor who portrayed Franklin Clinton in Grand Theft Auto V, could be hinting at some new story content for Rockstar's blockbuster game.

Yesterday, Rockstar Games released a batch of new screenshots showcasing the PC version of GTA 5, which after a delay is now set to arrive in April. One of the images featured Franklin, holding a duffle bag and staring out over Los Santos. At the time, I thought nothing of it, but then Fonteno took to his Instagram account and also shared the image, while writing, "COMIN SOON WE TAKIN GROVESTREET BACC [sic]".

Grove Street, of course, is a location in Grand Theft Auto V. And while it's possible Fonteno could just be referring to the new PC release, Rockstar did say, albeit a long time ago, that they do have "substantial additions in 2014 continuing Michael, Franklin and Trevor's action, mayhem and unexpected adventures in Southern San Andreas."

Of course, this was in late 2013 when they first teased story DLC and it's now been a year since than, but its possible the content could've been put on the backburner while the developer focused on the release of the Xbox One and PS4 versions, online heists, and the upcoming PC version — all of which took a lot longer than expected.

This isn't the first time Fonteno has mentioned DLC for GTA 5 either. Back at Comic-Con 2013 during IGN's Grand Theft Auto V panel, Fonteno let it slip that he and Malay, the voice actor for CJ (from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas) were working on a "CJ and Franklin thing." Of course, that led into Rockstar revealing their plans for "substantial additions."

More recently, however, Fonteno appeared in an interview with Jack Thriller in which he again talked about heading to New York to record new lines for the character. "We're working on the DLC, downloadable content, for Grand Theft Auto 5 and that's real big," he said in December 2014. Check out the clip below in which he makes the remark at 6:25.

Again, nothing is confirmed at this moment. All we know is that in 2013, Rockstar said story DLC was coming in 2014. In 2014, we got no DLC, but hints that Fonteno was working on something Franklin related. And now, we have this — the cryptic Instagram post. Make of it what you will.
