Rage 2 is showing substantial amounts of gameplay in a new video exclusively on IGN. The gameplay video shows off never-before seen areas and covers the gamut of first-person shooting and car combat. Check it out!
With pretty close to one month until the release of Rage 2, publisher Bethesda has decided to share a lengthy gameplay demonstration. The video is exclusively shared with IGN but you can watch it on YouTube as well.
Dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses – Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, creators of the first-person shooter – where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
The video starts off in a dense forest area full of towering large trees and rivers. It’s the first time we get to see this area of Rage 2’s large open-world in action, and we’re liking what we’re seeing here. Right off the bat we witness a tense car chase where the player attacks a hostile convoy. The similarities to 2015’s excellent Mad Max video game are eerie but make a lot of sense. Rage 2, unlike its predecessor, is a multi-studio project worked on by id Software and Avalanche Studios. Avalanche is the team behind Mad Max and is no doubt pouring their expertise in creating fun open-worlds with satisfying action combat, while id Software is all about first-person shooting.
The original Rage, while being ambitious, lacked the expected impact when it came out last-gen for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Technical issues stemming from a revolutionary new game engine hampered the experience to same parts as a drab and lackluster game design. As legends of the FPS genre, players were simply expecting nothing less than a revelation in terms of gameplay. Rage 2 looks to improve on every aspect of the first game. Gone is the drab color palette and dark atmosphere in favor of color and over-the-top action. A great trade-off.
