Ubisoft's next heavy weight title, Assassin's Creed Origins, is nearing its October 27 release and alongside it comes yet another new trailer showing what players can expect from this installment of the franchise, and this latest trailer reveals what the Templars were called in a time before the Knights Templars were invented.
Assassin's Creed Origins will take place in Egypt around the time of Cleopatra VII, somewhere between year 69 and 30 BC, 1000 years before the world had invented the Knights Templars, so it wouldn't really make much sense for the bad guys to be called Templars in this installment of the franchise. So today Ubisoft released a new trailer revealing what the bad guys will be called this time around, and their name will be the "Order of the Ancients". Guessing their guards will be called the "Defense of the Ancients".
The new trailer also shows off some epic "in game footage captured in 4K" which helps set both tone and scene for the upcoming game. Though only time will tell how much of it was actual gameplay and not just cutscenes. One thing is for sure, the Ancients seem like rude dudes.
The other trailer, and the slightly shorter trailer, is one called "The Mask of Conspiracy". Just like with all conspiracies this trailer is a bit none descriptive but it shows what most likely is some other bad guys all wearing different masks saying menacing things. Check it out for yourself below in all its glory.
Assassin's Creed Origins is set for release October 27 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
