[Watch] Battlefield 1 has a small nod to Lord of the Rings in it

If you're going to have an easter egg in your game, Lord of the Rings is as good a source as there is for one. Battlefield 1 has a small nod to Lord of the Rings contained in one of its flying segments. If you look at one of the mountains closely, you will notice a pyre on its summit. Shooting at the pyre causes it to go up in flames, which in turn, activates another pyre off in the distance, which then triggers another one.

You get the idea.

The reference is to a scene in Return of the King when Gandalf signals the lighting of the warning Beacons, as an alarm to the realm of Gondor on the eve of the battle of Minas Tirith. That's the one where the Witch King gets stabbed in the face, in case you need a refresher.

It's always cool to see game developers do little things like this to show off the kinds of stories that inspire them, and a big thank you to YouTuber DANNYonPC for sharing this.
