[Watch] Cars 3 first official trailer released

After a couple of teaser looks, we finally got our first full trailer for Cars 3 today. Lightning McQueen is back, but he's not his old self. He's aging as an athlete and has to compete with two new, up and coming racers.

Cruz Ramirez is a new female racer in the crew that helps renew his competitive fire against spirited rookie Jackson Storm. He's a new high-tech racer and McQueen must racer smarter than he ever has before in order to win. After a devastating crash, will McQueen ever get back to his full form? A Storm is coming, but with it brings Lightning.

Brian Fee, Director, spoke about Cars 3 and the plot surrounding McQueen

“McQueen is not the young hotshot anymore, the kid he was back then in Cars 1. He’s in the middle of his life, and as an athlete, that’s getting up there. You have your whole life ahead of you, yet your career is starting to show its age. He’s looking in the mirror and realizing, ‘I’m 40 years old,’ and dealing with the fact that the thing that you love more than anything else, you might not be able to do forever.”

Cruz Ramirez will not only use her expert technician skills but also channel inspiration from McQueen's mentor the Hudson Hornet. Cars 3 hits theaters June 16th, 2017.
