Watch Dogs 2 will be adding a new multiplayer mode to its repertoire next week courtesy of the game's July free content update. Ubisoft revealed that the much requested 4-player party mode would be arriving next week alongside an in-game July 4th celebration. To this point, Watch Dogs 2 has only been playable in co-op with one other friend, so expanding on that is a pleasant surprise.
Here's a breakdown of the feature courtesy of Ubisoft:
4-PLAYER PARTY MODE – The free roam you know and love is back – now, from the Multiplayer App in your smartphone, two to four friends can enter into a private or public party mode. Free roam around San Francisco causing havoc, or jump into any of these activities on-demand, all of which have been balanced for the optimal amount of 2-4-person tomfoolery:
4-player Party: Bounty
4-player Party: Invasion
4-player Party: PvP Loot Truck
4-player Party: Races
4-player Party: Showd0wn
4-player Party: Robot Boss Fight
4-player Party: DedSec – Virus
Ubisoft also released a trailer for the mode which you can check out below:
It's worth noting that co-op missions will not factor into the new 4-player Party Mode as Ubisoft says that they were "designed specifically for 2-player co-op."
Also, in celebration of the 4th of July, players will be able to view an in-game nightly fireworks show on the Bay starting today and will run through July 10th. The update also streamlines your ability to jump into a multiplayer match by using the Multiplayer App in your in-game smartphone, thereby eliminating the wait for events to spawn.
Watch Dogs 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
