I honestly thought this day would never come. After numerous delays since its E3 2012 reveal, Watch Dogs has, officially, gone gold. This means the highly anticipated hacker action game, which has been in development since 2009, is "right on track" for its worldwide release of May 27, 2014. More importantly, it means no more delays.
“It’s exciting to be gold,” said Creative Director Jonathan Morin on the Ubi blog. “But it’ll be more exciting when people are playing. For the fans it means that it’s true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it’s not done until they actually have it in their hands.”
“I invite players to play it the way they want,” Morin added, on the topic of how players should approach the living, breathing city of Chicago. “To explore the different ways of playing. To not necessarily follow the instincts they know from other games. To find your own fun in it. That’s how Watch Dogs is meant to be played.”
For those of you who are somehow still unfamiliar with Watch Dogs, Ubisoft yesterday released a nine minute video breaking down the basics of the game, including hacking, driving, and multiplayer gameplay, among other features.
