[WATCH] DOOM devs talk Nintendo Switch version, motion controls will be limited

It's kind of hard to believe, but DOOM on Nintendo Switch is very close to becoming a reality. As you can probably imagine, Bethesda and id Software have gone into marketing mode for the DOOM Switch port, and they seem to be taking the angle of assuming the Nintendo player is unfamiliar with the game. A few days ago, Nintendo put out a developer interview with Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin from id Software where the pair go over the basics on what to expect.

Check it out:

The big thing to take away from the interview is how they describe DOOM's engine as "scaleable." Its flexibility is what allowed the developers to be able to make a functional Switch port, even at the cost of framerate (the Switch port will run at 30 FPS as opposed to 60).

Earlier today, a small video clip from Nintendo World Report revealed that DOOM's Switch port does come with motion controls, albeit in a limited capacity. The big thing missing from it is the lack of Gyro Aiming, which feels like a potential missed opportunity. Then again, it's entirely possible that id played around with the feature and found that it just wasn't very good. It's impossible to know for sure.

DOOM's Nintendo Switch port releases on November 10th, 2017.
