[Watch] Drawn to Death gets an extended 30-minute gameplay reveal

To give away a game for free to a major audience is a big gamble that says one of two things. You are either supremely confident in the product you are about to put out, or you are desperate to bring attention to it. Drawn to Death feels like the former, and if Rocket League's success is any indication, David Jaffe and company seem like they think they're delivering a quality multiplayer game to the masses in the next few days.

As most of you know, Rocket League started out as a PlayStation Plus giveaway back in July of 2015. It has gradually made its way to almost every major gaming platform since and has gone on to be incredibly fruitful. When you look at Drawn to Death, it's easy to see how polished the gameplay is as well as the incredible attention to detail there is in its art style.

When David Jaffe talks about the game, he says that Drawn to Death is an evolution on lessons learned from other games he's worked on and a natural fit for the type of games he likes to play. Drawn to Death is about mastering its systems and maps, so death (and kills for that matter) aren't instant like you would find in many modern shooters. Combat is more cerebral with chances for the player to turn around any encounter they may find themselves on the losing end of.

Death has a real consequence in Drawn to Death, which will make you think twice before charging in. Memorizing the maps is key to success, which is something of a 90's design philosophy that shooters have mostly gotten away from over the years.

Suffice it to say; Drawn to Death looks very solid and will release on April 4th, 2017 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
