[Watch] Ghost Recon Wildlands’ PVP mode to get an open beta before launch

Will be titled Ghost War.

Ghost Recon has almost always had a competitive PVP multiplayer mode but that was not the case with Wildlands when it launched. The mode will be available later this fall as a free update for people who own the game but before it launches, Ubisoft will be holding an open beta for the mode.

The beta will be open to everyone, even people who don't own the game, and will allow them to get a taste of what the 4V4 mode has to offer. The mode will serve as a tactical team deathmatch-like mode which sees players selecting classes/loadouts to battle it out in sections of Bolivia. Ubisoft detailed how they expanded on the game's mechanics in the new mode in a blog post.

“Our objective with Ghost War was to build upon the main game’s elements of co-op teamplay and open, tactical gameplay,” said Lead Game Designer Lucian Istrate. To expand the tactical toolset, the team has added a new suppression system that affects your vision while you’re under heavy fire, and implemented new sound markers to help players locate their enemies’ position. Istrate cautions that “all of these elements will make team play, communication, and strategic skills more crucial than ever.”

You can take a look at the mode in a brand new trailer below.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is out now on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Ghost War's beta and full release currently has no release date.
