If you're thirsty for Gears of War 4 gameplay, you're in luck! Xbox released a 20-minute gameplay video for Gears 4 which basically covers the entire prologue for the game!
Why put a 20-minute prologue in Gears of War 4? Lead campaign designer of Gears 4, Matt Searcy, detailed the reasoning behind the game featuring a prologue:
"One of the things we wanted to do was drop you right into the action. With a game like Gears, it's really important that we get you in there and the way our story went, it was a good idea for us to use it also as a history lesson. So, we are going to take the player back in time to some key battle from the past of the Gears of War franchise.
"One of the other things we wanted to do was make sure to have a mission that was well-structured for a tutorial so we could teach some core mechanics to anybody that was returning or coming new to the Gears franchise."
The Coalition's studio head, Rod Fergusson, added the prologue offers a great way to introduce a new character to players who will be present throughout the entire game. Gears of War 4 is available worldwide October 11 on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title.
