[Watch] Jimmy Fallon debuts first ever live gameplay of the Nintendo Switch

Back in October, Nintendo lifted the curtain on their highly anticipated new console, the Nintendo Switch. The system is a home console/portable hybrid that allows players to take any game their playing at home on their TV on the go via a tablet bundled with the console. This will allow players to be able to take games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with them on the bus, train, or plane without receiving any sort of massive downgrade that usually comes with portable ports of console games. It's the exact same game as the console version and it sounds like it'll be a real game changer.

After the reveal trailer in October, Nintendo has been hush-hush on the Switch promising more details early next year. The trailer featured "simulated gameplay" and was obviously scripted so it led many people to be skeptical of the console. Last night, our concerns were eased as Nintendo revealed a live demo of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild running on the Switch on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

The video below shows off most of the promised features of the Switch, showing the "switch" feature where the player can take the game on the go while playing without losing any progress or having to restart. The video also shows off Super Mario Run on iPhone which looks very fun, but if you're curious about just the Nintendo Switch and Zelda you can skip to the 5 minute mark on the video.

There are a number of rumors coming out about the console suggesting things like GameCube games will be compatible on the system, a Dark Souls trilogy collection will release on the console, and more. We will know more about the Switch when Nintendo holds a dedicated event this January.

The Nintendo Switch is set to release sometime in March 2017, while Super Mario Run will release December 15th on iOS platforms.
