MLB: The Show is in full retro mode this year, between launching an old school version of what baseball used to look like in gaming, and the selection of The Kid as the cover athlete. Naturally, if you're going to dip into the past for your cover athlete, you've got to do it right, and bring every possible aspect of what makes them special into the game. That's exactly what San Diego Studios has done, as you can see from the trailer above.
Griffey was able to stop by and hop into a mo-cap suit to record his swing. While it isn't the first time a baseball game has tried to replicate his swing, MLB: The Show 17 looks to make it the most authentic rendition yet.
On top of that, it sounds like the game will be getting some audio commentary from The Kid as well, as the trailer shows him recording a Strike call. Perhaps there might be some optional audio tracks, or it could be that Griffey will have his voice call the balls and strikes for the game's Retro Mode.
MLB: The Show 17 releases on March 28th, 2017 exclusively for PS4.
