If you've got a 4K TV and a PS4 Pro, Mafia 3 has officially joined the ranks of games you can take advantage of. Rather quietly, Developer 2K released PS4 Pro support for the game via the most recent patch, 1.05 which oddly enough was not mentioned in the patch notes that came with it. The folks over at Digital Foundry heard about the support by word of mouth and released an all new comparison video showcasing the base PS4 version alongside the Pro version.
Among the changes to the game include 1440p resolution output, which can be downsampled to 1080p when you output the game at 1080p and improved motion blur. Mafia 3's shadow texture quality has also been enhanced, with far less pixelation than before, particularly when the shadows are a result of in-game spotlights. Frame pacing issues have also been fixed, eradicating the game's previous frame stuttering, and although there are frame dips, they never hit below 26 FPS and are fairly brief, so it's not too much of a hindrance.
Mafia 3's hype kind of fell off a cliff once the game released and many realized that the game hadn't quite lived up the potential fans were hoping for. However, that did not stop Mafia 3 from becoming the fastest selling game in 2K's history (at least according to them).
