[Watch] Mass Effect: Andromeda combat and skills detailed in new gameplay trailer

Some interesting new moves

With just over a month to go until launch for Mass Effect: Andromeda, Bioware and EA released the first gameplay video detailing the combat and skills system today.

The skill trees, as previously noted, can be changed on the fly during your game. They are broken down into three categories; Combat, Tech, and Biotic

Combat skills encompass things like increased weapon damage and the ability to use grenades, mines and increase your accuracy. Tech skills let you augment your weapons with things like Cryo-beam and Flamethrower capabilities. Assault turrets can be deployed as well as draining your enemy's shield energy to weaken them.

Biotics, although always present in Mass Effect, have a more up close and person impact on combat in Andromeda. One example used in the video are the Pull and Throw abilities. These let you take control of an enemy and draw him/her/it toward you to use as a shield or propel as a weapon into another group of enemies. There is also a singularity field that can be deployed which damages enemies in its immediate area.

Enemies in Mass Effect: Andromeda have similar color patterns indicating their strengths. Yellow enemies are armored, while blue enemies are using a shield. Just as your shield does, enemy shields will recharge if they are not eliminated in a timely manner. Other than multiplayer gameplay, we've seen most of the core basics of Andromeda's gameplay. With just over a month to go, hopefully, we get something to give us an idea what to expect.

Mass Effect: Andromeda releases on March 21st for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Check out the video below.
